Lee is a qualified executive coach. She has more than 1 000 hours of coaching managers at executive, middle management level and specialist knowledge workers.

Coaching methodology

The first meeting is with the sponsor to understand the brief, the culture and context, agree on feedback and confidentiality and the organisations’ preferred coaching process.

Contracting with the client means that the manager and HR will know and agree to the coachee’s objectives, and feedback meetings will be held with the coachee present. The content of the coaching conversations remains confidential, but progress on objectives is shared with the client.

Lee will then meet the individual coachee for a chemistry match, and then again to contract on the outcomes of the coaching, contact time, confidentiality and desired commitments from both parties. Where possible she will meet with the participants face-to-face at their convenience or for pre-arranged Skype sessions.

She will design a 360 assessment which will invite feedback from peers, and the senior executive as agreed upon by the sponsor. This feedback is sensitively fed back to the coachees to inform the individualised coaching objectives. Online personality profiles are conducted which will also assist in providing insight to personal motivations, blind spots and talents. A competency assessment will be co-created between the coach and coachee to ascertain the skills gap and talent for each individual, resulting in a personal development plan (PDP) with a specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timeous (SMART) action plans.

Each coachee receives 60 – 90 minutes of coaching every 2/3 weeks, plus email access for on-going support and entrenched behaviour change. The coaching process is designed on action learning coaching principles – drawing from real work experience and allowing for mentoring as well as coaching methodology. The coachees are guided to create a learning journal to track their progress and as reflective learning mechanism. They receive an e-mail after each session confirming the practices and objectives for the next session.
